Free food at school is a failed experiment. The idea was if we send the poor kids to school they will get an education and enrich themselves, their family, their community, and the nation. As it stands, it just means that they get free food and then remain poor because they are retarded. The few kids who are genuinely high IQ and poor by circumstance should be identified and saved early, most poor kids are retarded and should be cut out of the school system completely in order to redirect more resources towards the ones who do show potential.

the thing/problem about grade school is that 'history' class just goes through the history of everything, and then does the same thing the next year, and the same thing the next year, so, naturally, you talk about american settlers/founding and then ww2 over and over
unlike when you take a history class at the college/university level, you get into more specific eras and specific locations

but how else are you supposed to teach history to grade schoolers? as they advance, they'll start to recognize the importance of certain events and they'll be able to form better opinions themselves

Itd be interesting if the American education system was less academic and more practical life skills based. Teach kids how to cook. How to replace an electrical outlet. Basic plumbing. How to budget and stretch a hundred dollars. How to obtain a good credit score. How to rear children even. Shit like that. There's nothing wrong with it. It's broken on purpose. The goal isn't to improve or fix it, everyone knows how. It's to make it worse and support "private" schools (just don't talk about how they get government funding) and the owner can get richer.

I would restrict how much people can make money. There's no reason to work hard if somebody can just pay himself infinite amounts and lobby to increase contingencies on a market that only those with alot of money can externalize.

And not only how much, also how the money can be done. I would ban all landlords, limit the use of stocks to financing operations, standardized salaries so its not for greed, and remove all requirments for licensing, with the caveat that the degree of certs have to be clearly displayed before doing any sorts of business, otherwise you get nitpickers that try to prevent everyone from working to do a wage cartel.

Maybe, but if you can't teach what needs to be learned in your 90 min class, giving a bunch of homework that kids are going to resent won't somehow make them learn better. Standardized memorize-and-regurgitate tests teach nothing practical aside from "how well can you retain data over a period of 1-3 weeks". Critical thinking and understand are so much more important than memorizing dates and formulas.

Part of school is just a way of selecting pupils who are diligent, hardworking and reasonably intelligent so they can be prepared for university and a middle class job. It might sound harsh but low-key school itself is like a sieve that separates the wheat from the chaff. Those able to do upper middle class jobs ect and those who suck at school or hate it going into manual labour or service jobs. That was literally the explicit purpose of exams.

I think there are some other uses of school. If you are going to be able to vote then citizens need to be informed about geography, history, political ideology, science ect. A better informed population should ideally make better decisions. Less likely to be fooled by bullshit.

Getting good at problem solving and maths is a skill in the same way boxing and playing guitar is a skill. The more you do it the better you get a it. The faster and more accurate you get.

Sometimes, you just have to grind something like playing a chord 100 times or throwing a punch combo 100 to get it perfect.

Sometimes you just have to do like 100 integration problems for you to get very good and quick at solving. You start to see intuitive patterns quickly. It is like weightlifting. You get better.
