the bum-ass homeless guy asking me for a light
Everybody will just say Nietzsche or Schopenhauer. One dude will say Diogenes. A few others will say Marcus Aurelius or Epictetus. And like two Christians will say Kierkegaard
/thread
Averroes cuz hes my fellow sandnegro
With Deleuze you win.
Is this a trick question?
I am my own favorite philosopher
Parmenides of Elea
Schopenhauer and Kierkegaard, I love their "acceptance"
still better than the fake Fr*nch like Camus and Sartre enjoyers like Redditors and Xers(formly Tweeters)
Schopenhauer
Don't really know anything about him
Diogenes
Wildly overrated because of some stupid tumblr posts. Nobody even cares about what he believes, they just like that he's wacky.
Marcus Aurelius/Epictetus
Stoicism is an antilife philosophy that should not be treated seriously
Kierkegaard
The only legitimate philosopher you named other than Nietzsche. Excellent thought, although the Christianity element does bring it down a bit. The Knight of Faith is a truly compelling character if you divorce him from that, and simply accept that there is some "leap of faith" you must take to avoid infinite resignation.
nietzscha, schopenhauer, stirner
I'm here just to break the mold.
Baruch Spinoza
Giordano Bruno
Plotinus
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Carl Jung
Alan Watts
nobody has said spinoza
or leibniz
does Isaac newton count?
einstein? feynman? heisenberg? schrodinger? etc.
ITT: Everyone posts a philosopher they never read.
cheers based Spinoza enjoyer
I read all their wikipedia pages and watched all their YouTube videos, stop lying to me
why do people separate plato and socrates as if everything associated with socrates doesn't come from plato's dialogues? i mean, i guess there's xenophon, but no one is thinking of him when they talk about socrates. you're a fucking pseud anon
Tbqh some of these niggas can only be understood by having others tell you about them. I tried Hegel, never again. Also Kant said he hoped somebody would make his philosophy more digestible. Most of them are shitty writers.
George Floyd 8hen6h
I haven't read a lot of philosophy.
I like Plato and then Kant, as they are related in the sense that they both see virtue as essentially good.
But it's too schizo. I used to really like it, but they can't ground it at all which makes it kinda weird. Idk.
Nagarjuna
no Parmenides
into the trash this thread goes
I've had this thought sometimes as well. There is academic consensus on which thought is Socrates' and which is Plato's, though, so it seems like a moot point.
or Zhuangzhi or Lao Tzu, does Gautama Buddha count
And a bunch of mystical Jewish philosophers unnamed
In the gnostic gospels, Jesus Christ is depicted more as a philosopher, does He count?
Those are the ones I have actually read
I'm a little embarrassed going through this thread and seeing all these philosophers I never read and know nothing about. Makes me feel like a fraud, because I thought I knew a thing or two on the subject.
I wish there was more representation for eastern philosophy in this thread
Somehow nobody has said Wittgenstein
Otto Weininger should be required reading before posting here
dunning and kruger would like to speak with you
this, when they aren't incoherently babbling, they say the most poignant things
Hermes Trismegistus' religio-philosophy is a cool choice
My favorite is Husserl, although Brentano is also nice
I like Stirner for the concept of spooks alone.
It's a pretty open question;
you'd have to be a fool not to know that any profession that investigates something involves philosophy. So if we're talking about physics, it has some really good philosophers.
Sun Tzu
My life feels like a war
Sigmund Freud
I hate psychology, but he was right an modern day psychology was only invented to spite him because he told the truth
Lao Tzu
Uuuuuh, yeah it just makes sense
Most Chinese Legalist
Most humans are evil and need law to keep them in line
It's pretty funny. I think Stirner has some legitimately good thought, but spooks are great just because they're hilarious.
diogenes
It has nothing to do with 'R9K', I have a genuine love of philosophy.
Zapffe
Cioran

Not philosophy but a form thereof:
Dazai
Mishima
Dostoevsky
Fine, boring normie
Dostoyevsky, even if some jerk-offs don't want to include him as a philosopher and rather reduce him to just an author.
It's more about wording and phrasing rather than the actual point when people discuss those two.
Even in Christian thought Christ would still be a philosopher, so he definitely counts.
Not philosophy but a form thereof:
>Dazai
>Mishima
>Dostoevsky
Read Houellebecq. He's a very philosophical Chud. He talked about hoeflation in 1994

Il problema?
Machiavelli
Gaddafi and Machiavelli.
