These these roles have increasingly been reduced to machine operator level positions, which can be done by just about anyone.

Women can deny biological realities all they want, they can stockpile social credit and social capital, fiddle around in their low and middle management jobs, the purpose of which you couldn't even define in a few short sentences, but you will eventually come face to face with the fact that all you will ever have is maintained and built by men and if those men decide to simply do less, then your quality of life will directly decrease because of it. I'm a school teacher. My services are legally required, I'm represented by the second strongest union in the country, and above all else, I'm surrounded by women. All they have to do is go on the local news every couple years, cry for the cameras, and then the voters approve another bond that gives us a 10% raise. 184 day contract, 75k now, 106k when I cap. The rules of the market do not apply when we have a district monopoly on all students living in our boundaries.

The secret to getting good students is to try and position yourself in the sciences teaching a two part course, like Physics and Advanced physics. For Advanced Physics the final involves building a machine from scrap and writing about how the different concepts apply to how the machine works. The machine has to perform a function, and I don't tell the students what the function is until they've enrolled in the class. Build the machine, include enough concepts, and you get a guaranteed 100 on the final. It's a lot of work, but after a couple years it becomes legendary. None of my students enroll in physics unless they plan on taking advance physics next and putting in the work to build this machine. You only get students who are ready to do some amount of work for a guaranteed payout.

I get what you're saying, but like I said, I live in a major city. All of the schools with work available are really bad. Anything that demands effort on the part of the students isn't allowed. They just get passed through.
Yeah, I've only ever worked the one district, and it's a pretty good one. Doesn't change the fact that tomorrow's criminals are in today's classrooms. No way around it, 5% of Americans will do time at some point in your life, so on average there's at least one in every classroom. All I can really do is set up want curriculum such that they don't even enroll in my class. They target the easy prey and break their will to teach.

That's part of why the final and the rest of my class is graded the way it is. Very binary grading. I've mostly been left alone. Either the thing is done and they get full points or it's not done. I've heard horror stories though, and just one IEP with ridiculous accomodations can ruin your class culture.
If you ever do change your mind and come back, try to stick with it and build some mythos around your class to filter out the dregs.

Early college programs are your best bet. Very tough to get those roles, and people NEVER leave them. A lot of online schools offer them too, so you can always put in time teaching online and put on your resume that you worked in early college. Will give you an edge in application if a position opens up.
