When did Anon Babble stop being cool?

Oldfag here. Anon Babble started declining after the invention of smartphones and with the introduction of "rage comics". Then, a few years later, Wojak and Pepe permanently killed the old culture of the site and replaced it with the current one. It saddens me when people speak of early 2010s Anon Babble as the peak when it was really when the old Anon Babble died.

When I was in college in the mid 2010s, Gamergate had already cast a distinctly political and critical tone over everything. It's what led to the Hallowen event It's Okay To Be White (IOTBW) and He Will Not Divide Us (HWNDU) trolling. Aside from murders, that was the last distinctly Anon Babble thing to happen IRL to my knowledge.

I wasn't posting with the expectation of such things occurring anyway. In fact, the retort "not your personal army" was often flung at anyone trying to call for a raid of some sort, which is to brigading was discouraged.

But again, you didn't need any of that, because 10 years ago many boards were still treated like serious hobbyist and enthusiast boards, including this one. There were knowledgeable and passionate people who shared a ton of insights and original content from which you could learn way more than you ever imagined possible.

But by the late 2010s when zoomers were coming in en masse, those communities started dying because zoomers were simultaneously ignorant and deinvested and shit-tasted, frankly. You'd just see endless threads of shitposting and cluelessness while anything of worth got ignored. And that trend continues through the present day.

So depending on what you consider cool, it could have happened anywhere within the early 2010s.

However, admin could make the website better and able to resist invasion. Deleting Anon Babble was wrong.

Anon Babble is overmoderated because glowniggers and redditors infiltrated the mod teams, clearly, judging by how they wield the ban hammers.

Because at the time, Anon Babble was still a very creative place, and so it influenced the entire internet. All of this stopped when basically every new meme became a derivative of Pepe and/or Wojak, and it's been like this for over a decade now.

Every single forum has it's "cool" era. Something Awful is a good example. But from what I've heard from boomers, it really wasn't much in the grand scheme of things.

I can assure you that your time will come to experience the "fun" :-)

It's definitely not overmoderated, for a lot of interests it simply makes no longer sense when there are better places.

For cosplay for example, Anon Babble might have sovl or whatever but on other sites you can make a career out of your passion, so why would you stay here.

In my opinion people who act like times before around 2022 were not apart of the peak, are suspicious.

Sure we have had some bad times before that but only really recently has it been looking crazy bad, with almost every Anon Babble post being Israelis fighting eachother.

I have enjoyed some of the fashion scenes and unique vibes and increasingly strange senses of humour.
However over the past year it seems like the amount of people on here has decreased in number significantly due to basically the fags of Israel doing militarized spam to attack the vibes.
Anon Babble now is basically one discord group of Israel fags and they verbally abuse anyone who is not of them while self bumping their threads like the actual conscripts they are. They fear this place and all the people of it.

The loss of Anon Babble however shows a key moment where administration were not good enough to handle such minor problems. And it seems they have no intention of ceding power to idealist goodder nippon hands.

A big component of Anon Babble's "coolness" was there was that discussions began here instead of being brought here. Posters had to come up with their own unique topics to share, we weren't inundated with twitter and reddit screenshots with idiots trying to fuel some kind of rehashed flame war.

It wasn't all great and thousands of shitty threads rightly died right away but what passed through the filter was gold.
