DDLC wasn't even in the ballpark, it's an ironic meme game.
I don't understand the comparison. Katawa Shoujo is played straight, just with odd/dark/fetishy subject matter. DDLC (dick down little children) is a crypto horror game. They're apples and oranges. Both did something interesting in their own right.

KS was only entry level because there wasn't anything else western. DDLC was literally a meme that reaction streamers popularized.
And they both feature a cast of very waifuable girls with disabilities (physical in KS, psychological in DDLC)

Rin's route is the greatest video game narrative of all time, shizune's is just mid, and the other three are tearjerker romances with varying degrees of surface-level depth.
DDLC is just VNslop with some gimmicks at the end to prevent refunds.

Never actually played the Katawa Shoujo, but thanks for the reminder. I'll put it on my list after I finish Higurashi. As for DDLC, I enjoyed it, until the 4th wall break, then it was kinda just okay. Sayori's death kind of fucked with me, but I also kind of saw it coming.
You shouldn't play ks you are too dumb for it and that's basically me calling you special ed
I liked it. It needs more endings, though. None of the 3 are satisfying. Plus, some guy on youtube is working on a VR mod for it and it actually looks pretty good. I imagine it will pair well with the Pacifist mode that the devs are working on.
Well, I was put in special needs classes as a child due to ADD and Asperger's, so you wouldn't exactly be wrong, but I'm still going to play it, anyways.
