There is no such thing as a child whom you could have sex with whose psychological development wouldn't be negatively impacted in the process. How specifically that works is better explained by experts and you can search that if you want.

Children who grow up in reliable homes turn out better. For a home to be stable, the man must be devoted to it and never leave it. For that, he must either not be tempted away and/or be able to override any temptation with a sense of duty. So for a home to stable, a woman must be devoted to it as well, including the man who provides for it and the children who benefit from it. Part of that devotion is not cheating, which empowers the man to do better.
