democrats really don't believe in anything and are floundering to regain power, and it's never been more obvious that this is their play. The only move for Democrats is over the octogenarians in Congress to use their remaining time to groom and platform new younger political figures to succeed them, recentering rhetoric on pro worker, pro family, pro health policies, and abandoning the failed positions of the previous generation of democrat politics. The differences between the two parties should be less extreme than they currently are, because the Democrats currently have deviated far from what regular people expect of their representatives. Democrats have a big advantage in the negative brand image of Republicans, being so Christian fundamentalist, and they don't actually have to pitch their pro gay pro abortion stance that hard, they just need to get on board with bringing jobs back to Americans, lower taxes and government spending, basically rip off a lot of the popular maga agenda and win off of not hating gays.

There is no trust in American society. We do not trust our politicians, we do not trust the opposite gender, we do not trust other races. A socialist platform will always advocate the expansion of powers from the status quo, and nobody in the US trusts anyone to take more power. Culturally, americans want to work hard and be left alone.
I think many Americans would be fine with taxing the wealthy more heavily to fund social programs, such as free college or healthcare, and so on. But both of the current parties love pointing to the other side and saying "they're corrupt and influenced by a [insert large financial entity] to push their agenda" because they understand that their voters know the system screws them. But neither party is willing to stand against the system raping the amerian people sine they make substantial personal profit off of acting against the best interest of their constituents.

The reason the Democrat candidate lost the popular vote at all for the first time since 2004, and 1988 before that just because we were in an actual declared war against another standing army? Their brand is just as unpalatable to swing voters unless they very vocally jettison the child molesters, but if they do that they lose their base.
Taxing the rich more would destroy a lot more of the economy than would be worth. You couldn't tax an additional free college for all promise out of the wealthy, let alone a free healthcare. Paying for big programs with the rich is a silly proposition. We can fix healthcare by lowering drug prices and mandating transparent prices for medical procedures in hospitals. We can fix education by increasing education standards in high schools, and by shrinking the size of the college system in the US. Lots of people just get drunk all the time in college while taking coursework that should be in the high school curriculum, while colleges compete for the tuition from these non-serious students by building opulent campuses. American taxpayers do not want to pay taxes to support this system, and the people you hear advocating for these policies are typically the ones not paying taxes.

Yes I have considered that,and it's a minority position, and as trump stacks more Ws throughout this term it will become moreso. The democrat party of the past has paid lip service to border security, criticized jobs being shipped overseas, and proposed cutting waste, fraud, and abuse from government budgets. The policies aren't what the DNC objects to, it's Trump being at the head of it and not them. If they were addressing the same problems Trump is with the same policies, they would be beating trump based on the orange man bad rhetoric.
Basically the DNC doesn't believe in policy, it's focused on gaining power. The principled Democrats have left the party because they know it, and have become Republicans or independents. The genuine true beliefs left in the democrat party are gender zealotry and pro abortionism, and the rest of it are brainwashed anti trumpers, and deep state eels trying to cling to the boomer economic order.

Kamala was inarticulate and unlikeable and extremely inauthentic. If a well-spoken Democrat can on Trump's agenda but maybe slow rolling deportation of non-criminal undocumented immigrants, plus a few other nominal differences, gave some good rhetoric about compassion, and came off as less of an asshole than Trump, he could hold on to his democrat base and even peel off some pro trump moderates.
