I think this is mostly a US problem. I went to college in Europe and graduated with an electrical engineering degree. I got a job 10 months after graduation, after coming close 3 times before that. This was in 2024. I make above-average for my country while sitting in an office and not doing much. Some days I am completely free. Best of all, higher education here is cheap enough that my parents were able to afford it, so I'm debt-free.
Yes, going to college to study some BS like gender studies, literature or sociology is retarded, but I'm pretty sure STEM is still worth it, at least here in Europe.
